Cannery Row and Monterey Bay Aquarium

Along the central northern coast of the Monterey Peninsula in New Monterey is Cannery Row, immortalized in John Steinbeck's novel Cannery Row. Several blocks of retired and dated sardine canning factories that bustled in the 1940s have been renovated into antique curios, eateries, museums, and tourist shops. Cannery Row is flanked on its west end by the world famous Montrey Bay Aquarium, noted for housing a Great White Shark in captivity for 6 months. Also notheworthy are the endless "touching" exhibitis, its celebration of the local marine life, and its ethereal and beautiful jelly fish displays.
