At 3:30am Sunday July 17 Patty, Mike, Wayne, and I hit the trail to summit Mount Whitney. After hourly 5-10 minute breaks and 10.7 miles, we reached the summit at 1:30p. All of us fared well regarding altitude sickness. We stayed at the summit for 45 minutes before beginning our descent. Just over 7 hours later, we made it back to the car, at 9:30pm. The weather was perfect -- ~60° and virtually no wind at the summit!
