Alabama takes a great deal of pride in their high point. Not only is the high point well marked and
monumented (nice
building and observation tower at the summit) but there is also a very nice state park surrounding the base of
the summit. This is where we spent our "happenin'" New Year's Eve!
This is the nice stone building located at the summit. During normal operating business hours you can go up in the observation tower to take in the view of the area. Because we were there during a holiday, the tower was not open.
