Cable Grocery Bag Holder & Dispenser
Adapted from a pattern for a yoga mat bag, this project was my first stab a cabling. I think it turned out very well!

I used yarn that was given as a gift, so I do not know the label or the weight. But it feels like a standard weight/thickness yarn -- not too thin, not too thick. I used US 7 (4.5mm) needles.

The finished bag measures 12"-13" around and ~30" long.

PATTERN:
Cast on 81 stitches.
Rows 1, 5 (RS): P1, * K9, P1 *
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 (WS): * K1, P9 *, K1 (last stitch)
Row 3 (RS): P1, * C6B, K3, P1*
Row 7 (RS): P1, * K3, C6F, P1*
Repeat these 8 rows until you reach desired length. I repeated the pattern 24 times, for a total of 192 rows. Weave in loose ends. Fold the piece in half length-wise with the wrong side facing out. Sew up the seam.
For the handle, I knitted an I-cord. You choose the length (mine was a bit too long, so I added a knot to shorten it).
To cinch the bottom of the bag, weave a few strands of yarn through the work about 1 cm from the bottom. Pull tight and tie closed with a bow.

Abbreviations:
