This project proved to be my first test in increasing/decreasing stitches. Here's the makeshift pattern I put together:
Cast on 3 stitches
Knit 2 rows
Knit 2 stitches, increase 1, knit 1 stitch
Knit 4 stitches
Knit 3 stitches, increase 1, knit 1 stitch
Knit 5 stitches
Knit 4 stitches, increase 1, knit 1 stitch
Knit 6 stitches
Knit 5 stitches, increase 1, knit 1 stitch
Knit 7 stitches
Knit 6 stitches, increase 1, knit 1 stitch
Knit 8 stitches
Knit 7 stitches, increase 1, knit 1 stitch
Knit 9 stitches
Decrease 1 stitch, knit 6 stitches, increase 1, knit 1 stitch
Knit 9 stitches
* repeat the previous 2 steps twice more
Decrease 1 stitch, knit 7 stitches
Knit 8 stitches
Decrease 1 stitch, knit 6 stitches
Knit 7 stitches
Decrease 1 stitch, knit 5 stitches
Knit 6 stitches
Decrease 1 stitch, knit 4 stitches
Knit 5 stitches
Repeat all directions in backward order to get the other half of the V. This is all done in one piece.
